Debut in the Bundesliga

Fan Zhendong, the Paris Olympic champion, is in his second season in Germany but makes his home debut for Borussia Düsseldorf. On Saturday he earned two points in a 3-1 win over TSV Bad Königshofen. The two 3-1 victories against Andre Bertelsmeier and Filip Zeljko were decisive for the home win.

Successes in the Home Match

The 3-1 win was the club’s second win in two matches. Kanak Jha lost his match against Filip Zeljko, while Fan secured the two points for the team. The identical 3-1 successes against Bertelsmeier and Zeljko enabled the home victory.

Manager’s Comment

Manager Andreas Preuss told the South China Morning Post that Fan Zhendong’s performance was "only the beginning". "It was a fitting, warm welcome for Fan Zhendong," Preuss said. "I am thrilled. They were very exciting matches played at a high level. It was a celebration of table tennis."
