Marcel Reif has paid a notable compliment to Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy. The BVB icon discussed the forward's progress on his football talk show "Reif ist Live".
"Guirassy is a different footballer," said Reif. The 56-year-old observes a clear development in the striker, who has been decisive for the club this season. Guirassy recently scored a brace in the 3-2 win over Villarreal and also netted in the 3-2 victory at Hoffenheim. That makes three goals in his last two competitive matches.
Form on an upward curve
The expert's assessment aligns with current on-pitch performances. Borussia Dortmund sits third in the Bundesliga table with six points from two games and is on a run of four consecutive wins. The team has scored eleven goals across these five competitive matches, with Guirassy contributing a significant share. His double against Villarreal in the 80th and 85th minutes was decisive for the home win.
The striker's positive development comes at an opportune time. Ahead of the away match at VfB Stuttgart on September 19th, the tenth-placed team in the table, the attack is in good shape. The current standings show the strong position of the Black and Yellows. The coach and team can rely on a potent forward who, according to Reif, has raise his game to a new level.
Next task in Stuttgart
The international break gives the squad time to prepare for the next challenge. The away game in Stuttgart (6:30 PM) is the next test. The current injury list featuring Filippo Mané, Giannis Konstantelias and Konstantinos Karetsas continues to require adjustments, but in attack, Guirassy is ready as a striker in form. His increased confidence and improved finishing could be needed again at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.
