The Ballspielverein Borussia 09 e. V. Dortmund was founded on December 19, 1909 in Dortmund. The licensed football department of the BVB has been separated from the Ballspielverein Borussia 09 e.V. since 1999 and is listed on the stock exchange. Shareholders with higher stakes are, for example, the sponsors Evonic, Signal Iduna and Puma. The control of the club is however held by the Complementary GmbH Borussia Dortmund Management GmbH, which still owns the club 100%. The stadium has been officially known as Signal-Iduna-Park since December 2005, but is still often referred to as Westfalenstadion, the former name. The Signal-Iduna-Park has a capacity of 81,365 fans at national games, making it one of the largest football stadiums in Europe. At international games, when standing room is converted to seating, around 66,000 people can fit in the stadium. Borussia Dortmund has won a total of 22 titles in its history, including once the Königsklasse: In 1997, the BVB beat Juventus Turin 3-1 in the final. The BVB has had numerous prominent players in its ranks, including Matthias Sammer, Michael Zorc, Lars Ricken, Karl-Heinz Riedle, Jürgen Kohler, Stefan Reuter, Dede, Robert Lewandowski, Marco Reus, Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland or Mats Hummels.
