Borussia Dortmund's Jamie Gittens is at the center of a spicy revelation regarding his time at BVB. Former coach Niko Kovac, who is no longer with Bayern Munich, reportedly advised the German record champions against signing the talented winger last summer. Gittens was considered a hot transfer target after Bayern's unsuccessful pursuit of Spanish international Nico Williams. Bayern's leadership, including Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, sought alternatives and reached out to Kovac for his opinion on Gittens. Kovac allegedly made it clear that he deemed the young forward "not professional enough" to succeed at Bayern. This assessment led Bayern to abandon further efforts to sign Gittens and instead pursue Luis Diaz from Liverpool. Gittens eventually left Borussia Dortmund for 56 million euros, transferring to Chelsea, where he has struggled. In 27 competitive matches, he scored only one goal and provided five assists. Additionally, he has battled a persistent thigh injury and has not played since late January. Speculation is already circulating that Gittens could leave Chelsea despite having a contract until 2032.
