Borussia Dortmund appears set to say goodbye to winger Karim Adeyemi – the 24‑year‑old international has reportedly received an offer from FC Barcelona. The official bid, estimated at around €40 million by transfermarkt.de, is said to have already reached the BVB.
What exactly happened?
Dortmund signed Adeyemi in the summer of 2022 for €30 million from RB Salzburg. Since then he logged 16 goal involvements last season and became a key attacking asset. Mundo Deportivo now reports that Hansi Flick, who has been at Barcelona since 2024, is actively courting the German winger. Fabrizio Romano also confirmed Barcelona’s interest.
Why does this matter for Borussia Dortmund?
Adeyemi debuted for Germany in September 2021 and quickly became a regular. His pace and scoring threat are missing from a Dortmund side that currently sits 2nd in the Bundesliga with 73 points (22W‑7D‑5L). The team has already netted 70 goals while conceding 34, a +36 goal difference. Losing him could thin the attacking options, especially with defender Nico Schlotterbeck sidelined.
How could the transfer unfold?
Gestifute, the agency also representing Alejandro Balde and Lamine Yamal for Barcelona, advises Adeyemi. If Barcelona confirms the bid, Dortmund would need to secure at least €40 million in return to balance the books. A replacement might come from the club’s own academy or a new summer signing.
What does this mean for the current campaign?
Dortmund’s last result was a 2‑0 win over Werder Bremen on 16 May 2026 and the side is on a four‑match winning run (WWWWL). Despite the form, the transfer saga remains critical as the club sits 16 points behind Bayern Munich. Losing Adeyemi without a proper alternative could jeopardise the title push.
The deal is not yet official, but rumors are swirling. Fans await a formal statement from Borussia Dortmund and FC Barcelona.
