Borussia Dortmund have entered the race for 18-year-old Polish winger Oskar Pietuszewski. The young attacker, who joined Porto at the start of 2026 from Jagiellonia Białystok for €8 million, has drawn interest from clubs across Europe including Bayern Munich.
What’s Dortmund’s plan?
The Bundesliga side are preparing a €35 million bid for Pietuszewski, sweetened with add-ons and a significant percentage of any future sale. Porto, however, have made it clear they will not let the Pole leave unless his €60 million release clause is met. Since arriving in Portugal, Pietuszewski has scored three goals in 16 league games and made four appearances for Poland.
Dortmund finished last season with the Bundesliga’s best attack: 70 goals scored and just 34 conceded (+36). They ended 2025 on 73 points in second place, 16 behind Bayern Munich, with a record of 22 wins, seven draws and five losses from 34 games.
Why is Pietuszewski a target for the Black and Yellows?
Pietuszewski’s pace and technical ability have already caught the eye. His three goals for Porto include one against bitter rivals Benfica, and his four caps for Poland show his international pedigree. At 18 with a €60 million release clause, he could become a long-term solution on Dortmund’s right flank.
The competition is fierce. Bayern Munich and other European heavyweights are also scouting the youngster. Dortmund are betting on financial muscle and a clear project to land the deal before the new campaign begins.
What happens next?
If Porto accept Dortmund’s offer, Pietuszewski could arrive in time for the 2026/27 season. Talks promise to be tough, though, as Porto have shown no urgency to sell their prized asset. The Black and Yellows will need patience and a compelling package to make it happen.
Dortmund closed the 2025 season with a 2–0 win at Werder Bremen on 16 May 2026. Their last five games read WWWWL, and they head into pre-season on a four-game winning streak as they push for another title challenge.
